Proud owner of the first Skandola is Björn Bellmann, folkmusician from Hamburg

Within the north german Dance-Folk-Group "fievklang" the skandola can be heard as backing and rythmic instrument as "ground of sound" for hurdygurdy, violin and pipes.

Following the north-german folk tradition, Björn is planning a multimedia-project presentating old folk songs and traditional tunes in new shape as part of a theatrical story presenting a part of our history.

The new project is still in a stage of planning. Songs are being selected, rearranged, a storyline is goin' to be created, musicians and actors have to be found until the project can be showcased.

The north-german folk formation fievklang (engl.: "pentachord") was founded in 2006. More:

Besides this other folk-projects are planned, in which the skandola will be heard as backing instrument for songs like as a solo-instrument in tune sets following the irish folk tradition.

The special sound of the instrument can be found in a few weeks at its own place in myspace. Here some of the possible sounds will be presented.
